HESSTON, Kan. — Excel Industries reopened the Hesston manufacturing plant for business this week, two weeks after a deadly shooting spree. Excel resumed regular 10-hour shifts Thursday, March 10 and Friday, March 11.

The company had been closed since February 26 after a gunman shot and killed three workers and wounded several others. Police shot and killed the gunman inside Excel Industries.

Employees had the opportunity to go to the factory Wednesday and work through their emotions. They were welcome to bring their clergy as well. The plant was open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, which Excel called a come-and-go day.
