EDM to Distribute ZRATOR in New England and New York
After two years of steady growth for ZRATOR, UTECO, Inc. announced that EDM Distributors, Inc., Suffield, Conn., will handle ZRATOR distribution in New England and upstate New York. The company's long-term business plan has been to market its ZRATOR line of steerable, front-mount core plug aerators for zero-turn mowers through a strong two-step distribution channel.
EDM is the first distributor UTECO has assigned and will play a key role in helping to get the ZRATOR product closer to the dealers and landscapers in its market area. ICC Kicks off Standard Development Effort
The International Code Council has launched an effort to develop the first ANSI consensus standard for landscape irrigation sprinklers. Known as the Landscape Irrigation Emission Device Standard Committee, or IS-IEDC, the group's meeting brought together academics, manufacturers, material providers, water utilities, inspectors, installers, system designers and water efficiency experts. The new standard will provide minimum requirements for product performance, design, durability and safety, along with standardized test methods for a wide range of landscape irrigation emission devices, such as sprinklers, sprays, rotors, bubblers, and microirrigation sprays and emitters.

Robinson Reps Attend Kubota Meeting
Representatives from Robinson Equipment, Lakeview, Mich., attended Kubota Tractor Corp.'s 2011 national dealer meeting in San Antonio, Texas, and had the chance to get an exclusive look at the latest Kubota product introductions and innovations across all lines of Kubota tractors, construction equipment, utility vehicles, and lawn and garden equipment. More than 1,000 Kubota dealers from across the country convened to receive a first look at the new product enhancements. Robinson reps also attended field demonstrations and classroom sessions.
Pro-Tech Sponsors Season 2 of Project Sno Fighter
Pro-Tech Mfg. & Distribution is sponsoring a second season of its documentary titled "Project Sno Fighter," which will again highlight the lives and jobs of snow removal contractors, with a focus on how new equipment is integrated into their businesses. Filming is scheduled to take place through March 2012, and the documentary will debut at the 2012 Snow & Ice Management Association Symposium to be held in Buffalo, N.Y. Participants include two Sno Fighters from the first season, Kyle Stevens of Stonewood & Waters Landscape Craftsmen in Rush, N.Y., and Paul Vanderzon of Déneigement Vanderzon in St. Bruno, Que. The two additional participants are Shaun Stever of SMS Maintenance in Hudson, N.Y., and Andrew Eaton of Canadian Grounds, Inc. in Toronto, Ont.
AGMG Receives PLANET Award
The Professional Landcare Network recognized Affiliated Grounds Maintenance Group, Inc., Lake City, Pa., for its commitment to safety from January 1, 2010, through December 31, 2010. AGMG has been honored in previous years for excellence in safety, but this is the company's first gold performance level award. The awards honor businesses that demonstrate thorough, high-performing safety programs that create and maintain safe work environments in the green industry.
Boyle Wins Blizzard Spreader
Blizzard Snowplows announced Larry Boyle, owner of Complete Lawn Service LLC, Vernon, Conn., as the winner of a Blizzard LP-10 tailgate-mounted salt spreader. To become eligible to win the prize, contestants had to fill out a form on the Blizzard website, www.blizzardplows.com. The new spreader was installed on Boyle's truck at Connecticut Trailers in Bolton, Conn., and was presented to him by Gary and Craig Bergeron of Connecticut Trailers and Steve Dewey, national sales manager for Blizzard.
