chatterbox_turf_service_descriptionFacebook recently added additional features to its business pages, including an option for you to highlight your services more prominently on the top their page with the new “services” tab.

This is a new feature that allows you to display the specific services you want to showcase to visitors who visit your page. The listings will take up the uppermost part of your page, right above the last status update you have posted.

You need a services intro to get started. Your intro is displayed at the top of your listed services when people come to your page. When a visitor clicks on the services tab, it will also be displayed on the left-hand column. You can only use up to 40 characters for your intro, so keep it short. Make sure it delivers a nice first impression of what you do.

Once you finish the intro, you can list your services. Up to three will be shown at the top of your page once you publish. List them in reverse order that you want them to be displayed–from least important to most important since the last one you list will be displayed on top. Once you list them, you cannot put them in a different order unless you delete and start over.

While you have just 40 characters to name the service you want to highlight, the service description allows for up to 200 characters. Make them count. You may also upload a photo to go along with the description. This will be the first thing people see when coming to your page, so make any photos you use visually appealing. Use a photo that is illustrative of the service being offered, or something consistent with your brand.

When you are done listing everything, slide to publish and your services will be displayed at the top of your page.

Although this does take up a large part of your page’s real estate, it offers a way to promote what you most want your customers to know you offer.
