Caterpillar Donates Equipment and Manpower to Arlington National Cemetery

ARLINGTON, Va.- At the Renewal & Remembrance event on July 22 hosted by the Professional Landscape Network (PLANET) at Arlington National Cemetery, Caterpillar, Inc., local Cat dealer Alban Cat and PLANET presented Arlington National Cemetery with a custom-painted, military green Cat 277C Multi Terrain Loader.

A very low PSI footprint makes the Cat 277C the ideal machine for use at Arlington National Cemetery. It exerts less ground pressure than an average-sized person walking across the ground, thus protecting the turf from track damage. Caterpillar’s donation is scripted with "Honoring Those Who Serve" across the machine’s exterior to commemorate those who have been laid to rest at what has been called "America’s Most Hallowed Ground".

Caterpillar, an active PLANET member and platinum sponsor of the event, also donated additional equipment and manpower for the annual Renewal & Remembrance event. Nearly 500 PLANET landscape professionals and industry supplier members volunteered at this year’s event where they spent the day mulching, cabling and installing lightning protection for trees, pruning, planting, and liming and aerating more than 200 acres. This is the fifth consecutive year volunteers from Caterpillar and Alban Cat have supported this event.
