Koch Agronomic Services Names New Senior Agronomist

Wichita, Kan. – Koch Agronomic Services, LLC has hired Dr. Rigas E. Karamanos as a senior agronomist in Canada.  

In this role, his responsibilities include providing agronomic support to Koch Fertilizer and Koch Agronomic Services Canadian sales force. Additionally, he will lead KAS’s university research program to develop technically sound agronomic tools and support materials, while expanding KAS’s network within Canadian research and professional communities.
 
Before joining KAS Karamanos taught at the University of Saskatchewan and McGill University for over 10 years. He also served as the senior research agronomist with Esso Chemical, Canada; director of the Saskatchewan Soil Testing Laboratory and Enviro-Test Laboratories Saskatoon. In 1997, he joined Westco where he served in numerous roles including ACES manager, manager of agronomy research and market development. He joined the KAS team from Viterra where he was a manager of agronomic solutions. Other previous work includes projects through the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Canadian International Development Agency.  

Karamanos graduated from the University of Thessaloniki, Greece, with a Bachelor of Science and Arts, and holds a Master of Science and a doctorate in soil chemistry and fertility from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. In 2013, he was awarded a fellowship in the Canadian Society of Agronomy.
