T. Kirk Hunter Resigns as TPI Executive Director

CHICAGO – Turfgrass Producers International (TPI) Executive Director, T. Kirk Hunter submitted his resignation to the TPI Board of Trustees on July 26 immediately following the 2013 TPI Summer Convention here. Hunter was appointed TPI executive director at year’s end 2004, following the retirement of the late Doug Fender.

Hunter was only the third executive director in the TPI, which was formed in 1967, when it was then called the American Sod Producers Association. The name was changed to TPI to reflect the growing number of international members.

The Board wished Hunter well in his future endeavors and immediately began the process of finding a successor, says TPI in a brief announcement, said a brief announcement from the TPI.

TPI President Bob Weerts has advised the staff to continue to conduct business as usual. In the interim, TPI’s Public Relations Manager, Jim Novak, has been asked to temporarily serve as point person between the staff, board and members.
