New Holland Construction and Turf magazine named Brandon Vaughan of Toms Creek Nursery and Landscaping, Denton, N.C., as the winner of the “2011 Extreme Dream Contest.” The grand prize, a New Holland L218 skid steer loader worth more than $35,000, was presented to Vaughan during an award ceremony at the recent GIE+EXPO.

Sponsored by New Holland Construction, the contest showcased the best landscape design/build projects of the year across the United States and Canada. Contest semi-finalists were Mike Dasilva of Paradise Views Landscaping, Etobicoke, Ont., Canada, and Brett Parks of Not Just a Garden Center, Mishawaka, Ind.
One of North Carolina’s most experienced landscape installers, Toms Creek Nursery and Landscaping specializes in landscape design, plants, hardscaping, irrigation, lighting and water features. The company’s craftsmen have been creating stone patios for nearly 30 years. Vaughan’s award-winning project required 150 yards of soil, 25 triaxle loads of boulders and 5,000 feet of irrigation piping.
To participate in the 2011 Ex- treme Dream contest, landscape designers and contractors across North America were required to register online and provide a detailed summary of their biggest, best and/or most challenging landscape project, along with photography showing the project from start to finish. From March through September, the editors of Turf magazine and the moderators of LawnSite.com selected entries to be voted on by members of LawnSite.
