A broad selection of shade trees are available to replace those destroyed by EAB

As the emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis; EAB) continues to infest and kill native ash species in the upper Midwest (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin), nursery and landscape professionals appropriately are eliminating green, white, black and blue ash from their inventories and designs and replacing them with a host of other useful, pest-resistant tree species. While not all-inclusive, this list does describe some of today’s best shade tree selections suitable for the landscape in regions that have been ravaged by EAB. Not all trees on this list will be appropriate for your particular needs, but the selections comprise a broad palette from which to choose.
