5 Timely Pre-Season Client Reminders

Turf Magazine advisor and contributor Steve Rak II, penned this friendly pre-season reminder to  customers in his company’s January enewsletter. (The editors of Turf thought it struck just the right note heading into the 2013 season.)

Rak is the operator of Southwest Landscape Management, Columbia Station, Ohio. He and his brother, Jeff, the owner of Land Creations, Landscaping (a separate company), provide consulting services to small landscape companies through Rak Consulting LLC.

You may want to use something similar to what Steve is sharing below in your company’s next enewsletter. Steve wrote:

As a property manager, HOA board member, facility manager and homeowner it’s your responsibility to make sure you have maintenance plan for your properties every year.
As your landscape maintenance service provider it is our job to help you in any capacity we can with that plan.

Here are a few things to consider for 2013:

1. Review your contracts – Make sure that the current landscape & snow contract is up to date and signed for the 2013 season.

2. Schedule a walk through – this should be done in the spring to assess the property and make a plan for any enhancement projects.

3. Assess your property needs – which have not been mulched in years? How do the entranceways look; could they be enhanced with annuals or fall color?

4.  Communication – Of course it is our mission to always be available to our clients and we consider ourselves the eyes and ears of the properties that we maintain. Our Account Managers frequently visit the properties and keep an eye out for any landscape and snow related issues. This is a top priority for us!

5. Evaluate your fertilization program – It’s important to make sure you are protected against insects like grubs and other pests. If you don’t currently have an insecticide treatment for your property we can give you a quote and discuss the pros and cons of the treatment.

And remember we are here to help you every step of the way with all of these items!
