MARLBOROUGH, Conn. – The Connecticut Irrigation Contractors Association has announced the recipients of the 2013 Anderson/Hopkins Memorial CICA Scholarship. This year’s recipients are Elizabeth LaMay of Bethany, Gordon Crean of Fairfield, Jamison Buchanan of Stamford, Alysia Marie Colandrea of Guilford, Bridget McCarthy of Roxbury, Zachary Teixeira of Trumbull, Mark David Bouchard of Glastonbury, Jennifer Lynn Astram of North Haven, Nichole Elizabeth Sommavilla of Valhalla, N.Y., Alyssa Feldman of Portland, Christopher Stein of Fairfield and Ronald Sundstrom of Granby.

The scholarship was founded in 2008 in memory of two dedicated members of CICA, Joseph Hopkins and Jesse Anderson Jr.

Hopkins was a member since the CICA’s inception. He was a store branch manager for Atlantic Irrigation Specialties, Inc., and served several years on the Board of Directors in the early going helping to shape the future of this association. Hopkins was also the Membership Chair for many years. He did an excellent job in recruiting new members and also on retaining existing members.

Anderson was one of the co-founders of the CICA. He was also the founder and president of Anderson Turf Irrigation, Inc., and was the second president of this association from 1990-1991 and also co-president from 2004-2007. He served on and chaired many committees during his 20 years involvement in the CICA. His sense of humor and smile will be remembered by all members fortunate enough to have known him.
