WANTAGE, N.J. – Don’t be surprised if sometime this month you see a group of rugged landscapers donning pink vests as part of their work attire. It’s Farmside Landscape & Design’s way to join in helping raise awareness in the fight against cancer.

During October, Farmside’s staff has been going pink.

"All our crews will be wearing pink safety vests this month. We wanted to give people a strong, visible reminder of this important cause, and inspire them to think of ways in which they can help," says Farmside’s Vice President, Lisa Kuperus. "Breast cancer has touched the lives of so many in our community, either directly or through family and friends. We want to honor those who have been touched by this disease as well as celebrate with those who have fought the fight and won. It’s a gesture in which we pay tribute to these individuals and the friends and families who stand beside them."

In the spirit of recognizing how important having the local community caring for its members can be, Farmside is also featuring the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice Center’s logo on their vests.

"We are so fortunate to have these caring individuals from hospice available to support the members of our local communities. We want people to know that they are not alone, and there is a great team available to offer guidance and support during such a difficult time," notes Lisa Kuperus. Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice’s motto – "Your Home, Our Heart" – defines its mission of meeting the varied and complex needs of all patients and their families who are facing the terminal illness of a loved one.

"We want to invite people to take time this month to wear a bit of pink, take a moment to think about others around you that may be suffering, fighting and/or may be winners, and to consider ways in which you can be of service. But most of all, to take the time to appreciate and cherish the gift of life you’ve been given," says Kuperus.
