GIE+EXPO Brings Kansas and Eli Young Band to Louisville

LOUISVILLE, KY. – Legendary rock band, Kansas, will perform a free concert during GIE+EXPO (the Green Industry & Equipment Expo) and Hardscape North America on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 4th St. Live! in downtown Louisville. The Eli Young Band, who recently won the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards’ Song of the Year for "Crazy Girl," will perform a free concert on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 4th St. Live!

Kansas, well-known for their multimillion-selling single "Dust in the Wind," has been anything but dust in the wind, topping the charts since the early 1970s after a humble start in Topeka, Kan. The band has produced eight Gold albums, three sextuple-Platinum albums and one Platinum live album. With 14 studio albums, and mega-hits such as "Carry on Wayward Son," "Dust in the Wind" and "All I Wanted," Kansas will be a big concert for the lucky attendees at GIE+EXPO.

Attendees can don cowboy hats and boots on Thursday to hear the rising country stars in the Eli Young Band. Already in their 11th year of performing together, the Eli Young Band was started in Denton, Texas, by Mike Eli and James Young during their freshmen year of college. After four studio albums and one live album, the band has finally gotten national recognition for their hard work. Their song "Crazy Girl" was named the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards’ Song of the Year at the American Country Music Awards.

GIE+EXPO, the 9th largest tradeshow in America, is debuting a new format at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky., this year. Wednesday, October 24, will be Dealer Day for dealers, retailers and distributors. Thursday and Friday, October 25 and 26, will be open to all industry participants. The international tradeshow is sponsored by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, Inc. (OPEI); Professional Landcare Network (PLANET); and the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS).  Hardscape North America (HNA) will be co-located on the show floor on the same dates. HNA is produced by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute and endorsed by the Brick Industry Association and the National Concrete Masonry Association.

Online registration is now open and registrants will be eligible for outstanding prizes if they register early. Two lucky registrants will win the two grand prizes: $1,800 travel packages to the show.  Each package includes a $500 gift card for expenses, a luxury hotel suite for three nights in The Galt House or Seelbach Hilton Hotel, $100 in gift cards for local restaurants, $50 for souvenirs at the Visitor Information Center, and VIP seating at both GIE+EXPO/HNA concerts.

Register before May 31 and registrants will also be entered to win tickets to the NASCAR Sprint Cup races, June 30, in Ft. Mitchell, Ky. The Sprint Cup features racing heavyweights like Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson.

Additionally, GIE+EXPO’s Refer-a-Friend program will award an Apple iPad to one lucky winner.  To enter, registrants must register online and send an online invitation to a friend.  When that person registers you will be eligible for the iPad drawing. The winner will be announced at the show.
