KOHLER, Wis. – Kohler Engines and Italy-based Lombardini, a Kohler Company, has begun manufacturing its KDI engines for British construction equipment company JCB. The JCB agreement is one of numerous partnerships underway to incorporate Kohler’s newest heavy-duty diesel engines into a variety of applications in the construction, commercial, industrial, agricultural and material-handling markets.

The 1.9 liter and 2.5 liter engines, which meet Tier 4 Final and Stage IIIB emissions standards, are turbo-charged with four values per cylinder, and use a high-pressure common-rail direct injection system, cooled exhaust gas recirculation and diesel oxygenated catalyst to provide optimum performance and fuel efficiency.

Lombardini’s Reggio Emilia plant is producing four engine models for JCB for numerous construction applications. JCB unveiled its telescopic forklift (JCB 35D 4×4 Teletruk) with the KDI engine at the RWM waste management show in Birmingham last week.
