LebanonTurf, a leading provider of innovative plant nutrition products to the golf and landscape industries in North America, recently brought its 2013 College Tour to the University of Massachusetts-Amherst Turf Program.

Chris Gray, product marketing manager for LebanonTurf, hosted a presentation titled, “Why Fertilizer Costs What it Does: Understanding the Fertilizer Market.” The presentation covered raw material costs, exports, imports, production, freight, corporate structures and how they affect the market, and distribution channels.

LebanonTurf had another reason for visiting the Amherst campus. “As the winners of this year’s Turf Bowl competition, we wanted to congratulate the UMass turf team and present them with a $500 donation to help with expenses for attending the 2014 GIS show in Orlando,” said Gray.

The LebanonTurf College Tour was created to help support turf clubs, engage the next generation of turf professionals and educate them with real-world information to help build their professional careers. “The College Tour is our way of helping to expose and educate tomorrow’s professional turfgrass managers to the supplier side of the industry,” said Dave Heegard, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing at LebanonTurf. “We’ve been in the fertilizer business for more than 40 years, and I’d like to think we have some unique insights to pass along.”
