Mayor Fischer to Attend PLANET Gives Back in Louisville

Mayor Greg Fischer and Louisville Director of Sustainability Scheduled
to Attend and Speak at Ground Breaking; New Green Space Added to Engelhard Elementary and Bridgehaven Mental Health Services

What: Dozens of landscape professionals, in town to attend the annual Green Industry Conference, the nation’s largest landscape educational conference and outdoor equipment EXPO, are volunteering their time to build and enhance outdoor green spaces in downtown Louisville. 
 
An outdoor learning lab/classroom will be installed at Engelhard Elementary School, along with overall landscaping, and students will participate in planting education sessions. Bridgehaven Mental Health Services will receive an outdoor BBQ and picnic area; a continuation of last year’s project at the site.

Who: Fifty members of PLANET, the national trade association of landscape professionals, will lend their professional skills and donate materials to help improve downtown Louisville. Mayor Fischer, Louisville’s Director of Sustainability, the PLANET president and CEO, and the Principal of Engelhard Elementary will also be in attendance.

When: Oct. 24, 2012, 12 – 4 pm

  • 12:15 p.m.: Groundbreaking with Mayor Fischer at Engelhard Elementary School
  • 12:45 p.m.: Work Begins at Engelhard and Bridgehaven Mental Health Services
  • 1 – 3 p.m.: Children’s Program at Engelhard, including Garden Planting
  • 4 p.m.: Project Completed
