The Northwest Turfgrass Association (NTA) has honored Bill Griffith, a long time Walla Walla Community College Turf Management teacher.

Griffith taught turf management courses at WWCC for 20 years, has been a board member of the NTA for 17 years, and is its outgoing president. He credits and is grateful to close ties to the NTA and other industry contacts with the success students have after they graduate from the WWCC Program.

The NTA acknowledged that service saying, With that in mind, we are establishing the Bill Griffith Scholarship at Walla Walla Community College. It will be an annual scholarship of $1,000 to help a WWCC student of your choice pursue a career in the turfgrass industry in the Northwest that has benefitted so much from your dedication over the years. You deserve it. And we’re proud to do it.”

WWCC offers an Associate in Applied Arts and Sciences (AAAS) Degree in turf management upon completion of the two-year program of study. Graduates of this program may find employment as assistant golf courses superintendents, assistant sports turf managers, landscape maintenance and construction crew supervisors, parks department grounds keepers and school district grounds keepers.
