The Northeast Organic Farming Association of Connecticut, based in Oxford, Conn., has received a grant of $32,000 from the Long Island Sound Futures Fund to establish an Organic Lawn Care Certificate Program.

The $65,000 program will be operated by Connecticut NOFA’s regional program, the NOFA Organic Land Care Program, and will train 100 lawn care providers to offer organic, non-chemical lawn care services.

The NOFA Organic Lawn Care Certificate Course will be offered on Jan. 24, 2013, at Manchester Community College in Manchester, and on Feb. 26, 2013, at Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, in partnership with both community colleges. The one-day introductory program will cost $80 per person.
