ohio-turfColumbus, OH — Jim Scott, Landscape Design and Management instructor at Knox County Career Center (KCCC) will receive the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation’s Professional of the Year Award at this year’s OTF Conference & Show and OSU Green Industry Short Course.

Scott, who has a master’s degree from Ohio State in Agricultural Education, has been training future industry professionals for the past 39 years. He has developed programs for FFA members not only in Ohio, but nationwide. Countless students from his programs have gone on to work in the green industry as golf course superintendents, lawn care owners and operators and more.

In a time when recruiting students into the green industry has been challenging, Scott has created a successful program at KCCC. He encourages his students to be involved in the industry, including maintaining active memberships with organizations such as OTF and OSTMA. Additionally, Scott has made it a priority to let his students experience the green industry first hand by taking them on site visits to sports fields, golf courses, industry advocacy days and other related events.

Scott will receive his award on Tuesday, December 8th during the Awards, Scholarships and Keynote ceremony at the OTF Conference & Show and OSU Green Industry Short Course.
