KENNEWICK, Wash. – April is National Lawn Care Month. To celebrate the event, Senske Services, headquartered here and serving communities throughout the Inter-mountain West, is running a Facebook contest giving away a year of free lawn care in one of its surrounding services areas.

A healthy lawn can improve the air quality of a home, says the company in a news release. In fact, it is estimated that a 50 by 50 foot lawn releases enough oxygen for a family of four. At the same time, the lawn also absorbs carbon dioxide, hydrogen fluoride, and perosyacetyle nitrate.

There are other facts homeowners may not know about their grass. For example, lawns trap an estimated 12 million tons on dust and dirt annually. That means many possible irritants that could be floating around in the air are in the grass instead. What’s more, turf grass can actually act as an "air conditioner" to surrounding areas because Turfgrass has a much lower temperature than concrete and can help keep areas up to 22 F. cooler.

There could even be emotional benefits to a healthy lawn. Research has found that some people find relief from stress when viewing or interacting with nature.

Senske Services, Inc. has been a trusted source of lawn, tree and pest control services since 1947 across Eastern Washington, Idaho, and Utah, as well as pest control in Las Vegas, Nevada.
