ST. CHARLES, Mo. — American Mosquito Control Association (AMCA) has designated June 21 to June 27, 2015 as National Mosquito Control Awareness Week. AMCA is an international organization of nearly 2,000 public health professionals who are dedicated to protecting the public’s health and well-being through safe, environmentally sound mosquito control programs since 1935.

One of Spring-Green Lawn Care’s summertime services is mosquito control, where customers’ lawns and landscapes are sprayed to repel and prevent any mosquitoes during the warmer months. They recommend multiple applications in order to achieve the best results, as mosquitoes multiply quickly and frequently. Mosquito control is especially recommended around holidays like July 4th and Labor Day due to an increase in outdoor festivities.

Jason Vahle, Spring-Green owner in the St. Charles, Chesterfield and O’Fallon, Missouri, area, is selling mosquito control applications for the first time this year, though he has extensive lawn care experience that has brought with him. Years before partnering with Spring-Green in late 2014, Vahle started his very own lawn care business called Green Thumb Lawn & Landscape that he still owns and operates today. Vahle purchased his Spring-Green franchise to diversify his current service offerings at Green Thumb, which already generates almost $1 million in revenue each year. Although Vahle has worked in the green industry for most of his life, he values the marketing and specialty support that Spring-Green provides their franchise owners, especially for a newer service like mosquito control.

Mosquitoes often hide in grass, shrubs, and trees during the day, so spraying these areas with a control product will not only treat the current mosquitoes, but will repel new mosquitoes that enter a customer’s yard.
