Stop Sale For Turf Fungicides

UMass TurfTalk reports that on June 5th United Turf Alliance (UTA) voluntarily stopped sale of Armor Tech ALT 70 fungicide due to reports of “compromised turf” on turfgrass in the Northeast. In addition, United Phosphorus Inc. (UPI) has also stopped sale of Viceroy 70DF (June 9th).

Both products contain 70% aluminum tris (O-ethyl phosphonate) and are manufactured by Tessenderlo Kerley Inc. (TKI NovaSource). It is recommended at this time to avoid application of either product until further information is available. Currently, limited information exists and this is the safest course of action.

UTA is offering an opportunity to return Armor Tech ALT 70 for a full refund.

More information can be found in the official stop sale release from UTA. UTA is currently conducting studies with multiple universities in the New England region to determine the possible cause.

Further information on the stop sale of Viceroy from UPI is just beginning to emerge and can be found here.

Please note also that the active ingredient of Chipco Signature fungicide is 80% aluminum tris (O-ethyl phosphonate). To date, compromised turf has not been reported with Chipco Signature. Bayer has released a statement about Chipco Signature that can be found here.
