The Turfgrass Water Conservation Alliance recently wrapped up their third annual Field Day at the Pure Seed Testing Research Farm on June 23, 2014.  This year’s event was focused on Brand Awareness” and included guided tours of the research farm.

After a morning registration ceremony at 9 a.m. with coffee and hot tea, TWCA President Steve Tubbs kicked off the event with a warm welcome.

Special recognition was given to the “founding Class E Members” of the TWCA-Ted and Wade Wilbur of the Sod Shop in Wichita, Kansas, and John McShane of Stover out of Los Angeles, California-recognizing their long standing support of the organization.

Organized tours of the farm through rainout shelters and a variety of turf trials including drought, wear, shade and salinity were given with informative discussions at each stop.

Participants from across the United States, Italy, Canada, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea turned out for conversations with TWCA collaborators Dr. Mike Richardson, Dr. Cale Bigelow and Dr. Melodee Fraser.

The afternoon wrapped up with a casual social time for networking and sharing information in the scenic atmosphere in one of the vineyards at Pure Seed Testing Research Farm from 1 to 4 p.m.
