NOFA to Hold Summer Conference

The Northeast Organic Farming Association will hold its 36th annual NOFA Summer Conference August 13-15 at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass. Registration materials will be available in April. For more information, visit www.nofasummerconference.org.

News from ACI

The American Concrete Institute featured several new sustainability-focused events for its Spring Convention. These included the unveiling of “The Sustainable Concrete Guide: Strategies and Examples,” the ACI-CMPBS Pervious Concrete Student Competition and a technical session titled Sustainable Design in Structural Concrete.

ACI announced the new ACI University Award program, designed to recognize universities whose students and faculty are active in ACI and other concrete-related activities. Throughout 2010, students and faculty can participate in activities to earn points toward achieving ACI University Award status. For more information, visit www.UniversityAward.concrete.org.

AEM Announces New Industry Support

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers and Volvo Construction Equipment have signed an agreement that makes Volvo the presenting sponsor for AEM’s annual Construction Challenge teen competition. The challenge is a creative problem-solving program that educates young people about the value of construction industry careers, as well as industry contributions to improved quality of life. Volvo is the exclusive official presenting sponsor for 2010 to 2014, to include the challenge finals at the triennial CONEXPO-CON/AGG exposition, the challenge program within Destination ImagiNation’s yearly Global Finals, and regional rally qualifying events.
