CLCA Earns WaterSense Label

The California Landscape Contractors Association has received the WaterSense label from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for its Water Management Certification Program. Previously a WaterSense Program Partner, CLCA’s program needed to include an irrigation system auditing component to receive the WaterSense label. The certification now includes that component, which allows individuals to conduct irrigation audits on new landscape projects that fall under California’s Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance.

PLANET Joins Group for Lyme Disease Education

The Professional Landcare Network is one of the founding members of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Partners in Lyme Disease Prevention network, established to coordinate efforts in public education and performance measurement. The other founding members are the Centers for Disease Control, Lyme Disease Association, National Association of School Nurses, IPM Institute of North America and the Office of Pesticide Programs. The members will focus initial efforts on educating the public on how to avoid tick bites, recognize the symptoms of Lyme disease and receive treatment if contact occurs.

ASA Elects New President and Officers

The American Shotcrete Association elected Patrick Bridger to a two-year term as its president. He is president of Allentown Shotcrete Technology, Inc. and has been involved in the shotcrete business for over 25 years.

ASA also elected Joe Hutter as vice president, Michael Cotter as secretary and Ted Sofis as treasurer. William T. Drakely Jr., Charles Hanskat, Tom Norman and Ray Schallom III were elected as directors.
