NOFA Welcomes New Course Speakers

The Northeast Organic Farming Association introduced several new speakers to the NOFA five-day course in organic land care, held at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge in Newburyport, Mass. The new speakers included three Massachusetts Accredited Organic Land Care Professionals, Marie Stella, Curtis Dragon and Fred Newcombe, as well as Bryan Connolly, Massachusetts state botanist; Dr. Sam Telford III, Tufts University professor; and Mary Ann Dipinto, Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection wetlands specialist.

ASLA to Host Annual Meeting & Expo

The American Society of Landscape Architects has scheduled its 2011 annual meeting and expo for October 30-November 2 at the San Diego Convention Center in California. The theme of the meeting is Landscape Architecture Rising: Knowledge Vision Leadership. More than 6,000 attendees are expected, and the meeting will feature a diverse spectrum of industry experts speaking on sustainability and design. ACI Announces New Award

The American Concrete Institute announced the new ACI Concrete Sustainability Award and is seeking submissions until February 28, 2011. The first award will be presented during the ACI Fall 2012 Convention in Toronto, Ont., scheduled for October 21-25. The award was established in 2010 to recognize individuals or teams who have made contributions in highlighting concrete’s role related to sustainability. Visit www.concrete.org for more information.
