WLCA Volunteers for Field Renovation Day

About 30 sports fields in the greater Milwaukee and southeast Wisconsin areas were renovated by landscape contractors. The efforts were part of the second annual Sports Field Renovation Day, sponsored by the Wisconsin Landscape Contractors Association and Project EverGreen. Participating companies included American Landscape, Aspen Property Care, CNN Crop Services, Ground Effects Landscape Management, KEI, Kruger Landscape & Maintenance, Lammscapes, Shawn Roberts Lawn & Tree, Skyline Landscape Design, Terra-Firma Landscape, Inc. and Wind Lake Turf. Spring Valley Turf Products provided a portion of the fertilizer for the field sites.

NRPA Launches Networking Platform

The National Recreation & Park Association launched NRPA Connect, the largest online networking platform for parks and recreation in the U.S. The platform, available at www.nrpaconnect.org, will connect members of the association through e-mail groups, forums, networks and blogs, providing a one-stop venue for sharing news and information, networking with colleagues and participating in industry-related discussions.

PLANET Issues Resolution Honoring PGMS

The Professional Landcare Network issued a resolution saluting the Professional Grounds Management Society on the celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2011. PGMS was originally founded in 1911 as the National Gardeners Association. PLANET noted that the society has become a leader in the green industry in advancing the important topic of landscape sustainability to its members so those professionals can use their expertise to help all of us improve the environment.

New ARA Foundation Trustees

Charlie Neffle, who served as chair, and Dennis Von Ruden both completed their terms in office for the American Rental Association Foundation board of trustees. Each had served for three years, with Neffle in his leadership position for two. Doron Broadfoot took over as the new chair of the board. Catherine DeBusk is the new vice chair. Andy Cooke and Dave Garton joined the board as new trustees.
