The Irrigation Show

The 2009 Irrigation Show is scheduled for December 2-4, 2009, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. The event will showcase over 330 exhibiting companies spread out over 200,000 square feet. Attendee numbers are expected to exceed 6,000. Show highlights include the general session and keynote speaker Sandra Postel, new product contest, over 25 education classes and a variety of certification exams. The American Society of Landscape Architects presented its 2009 Student Awards at the annual meeting in Chicago. Awards were given to team representatives for 21 projects in seven categories from colleges and universities around the world. Projects can be viewed at www.asla.org/2009studentawards.

The Sustainable Sites Initiative, of which ASLA is a partner, announced a call for pilot projects that will test the first national rating system for sustainable landscapes. The Initiative will accept applications through February 15, 2010, and any type of designed landscape is eligible, as long as the total size exceeds 2,000 square feet. ASLA announced a new series of comprehensive online resource guides on sustainable design and planning. Available at www.asla.org, the resources include Green Infrastructure, Sustainable Transportation, Sustainable Urban Development, Livable Communities and Combating Climate Change with Landscape Architecture.

IECA to Hold Annual Conference & Expo

The International Erosion Control Association will hold its annual conference and expo, Environmental Connection 2010, at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas, February 16-20, 2010. Wagner Elected to TPI Board

Tobey Wagner, president of Sod Solutions in Mount Pleasant, S.C., was elected to a three-year term on the board of trustees of Turfgrass Producers International. A graduate of Auburn University, Wagner founded Sod Solutions in 1993. He has been a member of TPI since 1994 and has served on both the TPI Marketing Group and the TPI Membership Committee.
