Young Joins SipcamAdvan

Austin Young has joined the Specialty Products sales team in the Northeast at SipcamAdvan.

Young has experience in both chemical and equipment sales, as well as experience as a golf course superintendent. In addition to handling the turf and ornamental product line for SimpcamAdvan, Young will also handle the pest management line of wholly owned subsidiary Sostram Corp.

Arysta LifeScience CEO Wins Leadership Award

Arysta LifeScience CEO Chris Richards has been named the 2009 Best Manager with Strategic Vision in the crop protection industry.

Nominees were judged on their ability to lead initiatives resulting in a markedly positive impact in company fortunes. Richards was noted for successfully maintaining his company’s culture and environment while responding to the expectations of its new owners.

Dow AgroSciences Announces Pricing Changes

Based on challenging market dynamics, Dow AgroSciences has lowered the price on formulations of Dimension specialty herbicide, including Dimension 2EW, Dimension Ultra 40WP and Dimension on fertilizer. In addition, the company has also made price changes to Eagle 20EW specialty fungicide.

Dimension provides preemergence and early postemergence control of crabgrass, as well as season-long control of crabgrass, goosegrass, spurge and Poa annua. Eagle 20EW offers preventive and curative control of roughly 20 turf-destroying diseases, including dollar spot and brown patch.

DuPont Professional Products Launches Environmental Packaging Initiative

DuPont Professional Products has announced its Environmental Packaging Initiative, which will dramatically advance the sustainable features of its product packaging while reducing potential exposure and waste. DuPont Terrene packaging is the first accomplishment in a long range plan to improve packaging and make a difference in reducing the company’s carbon footprint. Highlights of the packaging include: ASTM certified biodegradable; leaves no toxic residues; degrades in nine months to five years; and ASTM certified compostable.

Quali-Pro Parent Company Acquires Bold Formulators

Quali-Pro, a product brand of MANA, has acquired Bold Formulators, a leading custom formulator, manufacturer and packager of plant protection chemical products. Bold Formulators has facilities in Tifton and Ocilla, Ga.

The acquisition provides extensive formulation and production capability within the United States. MANA plans to retain the staff, assets and status of Bold as an independent contract formulator, as well as the company’s name. Jim Workman will continue as president of the company.

Beberl to Head BASF’s Specialty Products Division

BASF North American Crop Protection has appointed Jan Buberl to head the Specialty Products Division. The division is comprised of three businesses: Professional Pest Control Solutions, Professional Turf & Ornamentals and Professional Vegetation Management.

Buberl has been with BASF for 13 years, most recently in the Crop Protection business as country manager for Spain and Portugal. His experience with the company also includes posts in global marketing, herbicides; marketing for specialty crops; and a position in global marketing for fungicides at the BASF global headquarters of Limburgerhof, Germany.
