Pesticide Container Collection to be Held in N.Y.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is coordinating a project to collect HDPE pesticide containers and large nursery pots in conjunction with CleanSweepNY. The event will take place the week of November 2, and all New York state certified applicators and green industry professionals from Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, Oswego, Tioga and Tompkins counties are invited to participate. Pylar Named Turf Territory Manager for Valent

Rob Pylar has joined Valent U.S.A. Corporation as a turf territory manager in the Midwest region. He will work closely with turf and landscape professionals throughout Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio.

Pylar has a certificate of studies in trufgrass management from Michigan State University and has spent the last 19 years working in various positions within the golf course, fertilizer and chemical distribution and chemical manufacturing/marketing industries. Most recently, he served as a technical field rep in Indiana and Michigan for W.A. Cleary Corporation.

PBI/Gordon and Ishihara Snagyo Kaisha Announce Herbicide Marketing Agreement

PBI/Gordon Corp. and Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha (ISK) Corp. of Osaka, Japan, have agreed to market Katana Herbicide in the U.S. professional turf management industry.

Katana will be marketed for sedge, broadleaf weed and grass weed control, as well as a ryegrass transition-aid product. It will be in nationwide distribution for the 2010 season.

BioSafe Welcomes New Salesperson, Team Member

BioSafe Systems has hired Paul Archibald as a new salesperson for the California market. He has extensive agricultural business experience, and will be working in the agricultural market, as well as in the horticulture and aquatics markets. He will work closely with distribution partners and customers to open new channels of communication and opportunity, and to help further develop products and applications.

BioSafe has also hired Mike Hancock as a new team member, who will be representing the company’s turf and ornamental business in Florida, with a special emphasis on turf and landscaping sales. He has 20 years of ornamental horticulture experience, including 10 years working with crop protection chemistries.

Dow AgroSciences Kicks off Power of MORE Program

Dow AgroSciences kicks off the 2009-2010 Power of MORE earning program, which allows users of Dow’s turf and ornamental herbicides, fungicides and insecticides to earn cash rebates on product purchases made September 1, 2009, through August 31, 2010.

Customers who purchase enough product to earn at least $500 in base rebates will also receive bonus rebates. There are more than 50 participating products that earn cash rebates for every unit purchased.
