Nitterhouse Wins ICPI Award

Nitterhouse Masonry Products, LLC was selected by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute to win a Hardscape North America award for its work on The Boulevard Mall project in Baton Rouge, La. The company received the award in the program category of Commercial Concrete Pavers (over 50,000 square feet). The total combined square footage of the architectural pavers and truncated dome pavers manufactured and supplied
by Nitterhouse equaled 85,000 square feet.

Stano Receives National Award

Stano Landscaping, Inc. announced that it received a Grand Award for the Wisconsin Club landscape renovation project in the 41st annual Environmental Improvement Awards Program, sponsored by the Professional Landcare Network. The company was founded by Matthew Stano in 1963 and specializes in residential and commercial landscape design, construction and management. Stano is based in Milwaukee, Wis., and currently employs about 75 associates.

Grau Materials Find a Home at MSU Turf Library

The Turfgrass Information Center, of the Michigan State University Libraries, announced the arrival of a major donation of turfgrass industry materials from the family of the late Dr. Fred V. Grau. Included are a wide range of extension materials, reprints, and other publications, as well as unique content such as correspondence, manuscripts, images and records dealing with the industry beginning in the mid-20th century. Grau (1902-1990) was a research, education and advocacy pioneer.

Toro Hosts Unique Student Event

The Toro Co. announced “The Collegiate Experience at Toro University,” a new educational program geared toward college students preparing to enter the turf industry. The learning experience builds upon Toro’s professional education program, called Toro University, and provides future turf professionals an exclusive opportunity to better prepare themselves for a competitive job environment. The two-day inaugural program was held at Toro’s world headquarters in Bloomington, Minn., and hosted 29 students from 16 universities around the U.S.

Kifco Appoints Vice President

Kifco, Inc. appointed John McHugh to the position of vice president of sales and marketing. McHugh has 26 years of progressive experience in the technical sales and marketing of irrigation equipment. He holds a degree in agricultural and irrigation engineering from Utah State and has worked for Rain Bird International, Rain For Rent and Rain Bird Agri-Products, and managed his own consulting firm.

Ventrac Wins Award

Ventrac, by Venture Products, Inc., received a Cascade Capital Corp. Business Growth Award for 2010 in manufacturing. Chosen from a seven-county region in Ohio, Ventrac was recognized for its 87 percent growth in the international export market over the past five years.

EarthWay Announces Drawing Winners

EarthWay Products, Inc. announced the winners of the daily drawing at the GIE+EXPO for the new S15 Spray-Pro push sprayer. The winners were Steve Miller of Miller Brothers Lawn Care in Harrison, Ark., and Mark Wyatt of Wyatt Farm in Madisonville, Ky.

Fisher Launches New Website

Fisher Engineering launched a comprehensive website, www.fisherplows.com, that provides snow removal professionals with a wide range of resources to make the snowplow decision-making process easier and more efficient. The site features the eMatch Plow Selection System, virtual showroom, product comparison guide and improved dealer locator.

Stihl Produces 40 Millionth Unit

Stihl, Inc. celebrated a milestone as the 40 millionth power head manufactured in the U.S. rolled off the line. President Fred Whyte accepted an MS 290 Stihl Farm Boss chain saw from Peter Mueller, executive vice president of operations, in front of a gathering of Stihl employees. Stihl has been headquartered in Virginia Beach, Va., since 1974.
