VMI Creates Drill Field Complex with SRWs

When the Virginia Military Institute wanted to convert an unusable valley on its Lexington, Va., campus to a drill field and shooting range complex, it turned to Versa-Lok Retaining Wall Systems. The solution was a 34-foot-tall segmental retaining wall over a quarter mile long holding up over 100,000 cubic yards of fill to create a 6-acre level field. VMI used Versa-Lok’s Weathered Square Foot product in a Granite Blend color.

Kioti Names Certified Dealers, Hires Medeiros

Kioti Tractor announced its 2010 5-Paw Certified Dealers. Qualifying dealers were recognized at an awards banquet at the annual dealer meeting. Forty-six dealers earned the certification for 2010, with 12 of those having earned it for the second time and 10 dealers having earned it for the third consecutive year since the program’s launch.

Kioti appointed Eugene Medeiros to the position of director of product support. He has over 35 years’ experience in support positions from national parts manager to vice president of operations for companies including Massey Ferguson, Kubota, Komatsu, Eagle-Picher, Reliable Tractor and McCormick.

Toro Sponsors PGMS

Toro has extended and expanded support for the Professional Grounds Management Society as a Gold Elite Partner in Professionalism in 2011. Toro has committed additional support to the society, which will allow PGMS to enhance its member education and certification programs. TruGreen to Donate for Facebook “Likes”

TruGreen announced it will donate up to $10,000 to GreenCare for Troops, a Project EverGreen program that offers free lawn care and landscape services to military families. TruGreen will donate $1 for every new follower it gains on its Facebook page for a three-month period. Registration Open for WaterSmart Innovations

Registration is open for the fourth WaterSmart Innovations confer- ence and exposition, slated for October 5-7, 2011, at the South Point Hotel & Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nev. CST Opens Distribution Yard

HNA Accepting Entries; Opens Registration

Registration is open for Hardscape North America, which will run concurrently with GIE+EXPO, October 27-29, in Louisville, Ky. Highlights include an HNA education conference and demonstration programs, as well as optional preshow installation courses.

HNA is accepting entries for the fourth annual Hardscape Project Awards to be presented at the Hardscape Awards Breakfast on October 28. Kichler Acquires Teron

Kichler Lighting has acquired Teron Lighting, Inc., a commercial lighting product manufacturer headquartered in Fairfield, Ohio. TLI will operate as a standalone entity with Michael Bellos and David Bellos continuing to manage its business.

Belgard Adds Taylor

Charles “Chuck” Taylor has joined Belgard Hardscapes by Oldcastle as a commercial hardscapes advisor, specializing in permeable interlocking concrete pavers. Taylor has more than 30 years of experience in the construction business. He served as the technical director for Advanced Pavement Technology for the past 10 years.

ServiceMaster Sells TruGreen LandCare

The ServiceMaster Co. has signed a definitive agreement to sell its commercial landscaping business, TruGreen LandCare, to an affiliate of Aurora Capital Group. TruGreen LandCare provides landscape maintenance services to commercial, industrial and municipal customers. It will continue to offer a comprehensive suite of landscaping services through a network of 60 branches in 17 states. The sale does not impact ServiceMaster’s TruGreen lawn care unit, which provides lawn, tree and shrub care to 14,000 customers within the U.S. and Canada.

LiveRoof Hires Spirou

LiveRoof, LLC selected Paul D. Spirou as its regional sales representative in Florida for the LiveRoof Hybrid Green Roof System. An accredited Green Roof Professional, Spirou has nine years of experience as a project manager and quality control manager in the construction industry. He holds a bachelor’s degree in building construction management from the University of North Florida and a master’s in business administration from the University of Miami. He is pursuing a graduate certificate in sustainable construction from the University of Florida.

Hendry to Represent North American Pipe

Hendry & Associates and North American Pipe Corp. announced an agreement to have Hendry represent North American to the green industry. North American is part of the Westlake Chemical Corp.

ARI has expanded its offering of OPE manufacturer parts catalogs on PartSmart to include Hydro-Gear’s complete product line. Under the exclusive three-year agreement, Hydro-Gear will provide ARI with the parts, pricing and support data for its line of high-performance hydrostatic transmissions, gear reduction drives, piston pumps, wheel motors and accessories.
