Valley Green to Distribute PlanTTech Fertilizers
Valley Green has been appointed as a master distributor for a new research-based fertilizer line called PlanTTech Organic Fertilizers. PlanTTech is a joint venture with fertilizer manufacturer Grigg Brothers. The fertilizers are designed with environmental considerations in mind, do not contain sewage sludge or manure and come in granular and liquid forms.
Dawn Industries Acquires U-Tell System
Dawn Industries, Inc. has acquired U-Tell Sales’ IrriCap system. U-Tell, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, manufactures direct access caps for irrigation drain valves and wire splices. The company was started in 2005 by Travis Wilson.
Foley Promotes Kattak, Hosts Conference
Foley, Inc. promoted George Kattak to vice president and chief financial officer. He joined Foley in 2001 as corporate controller and was promoted to director of finance in 2006.
Foley hosted an educational conference in Somerset, N.J., focused on the New Jersey Energy Master Plan and the application of Combined Heating and Power (CHP). Attendees learned about the plan and its goal of building at least 1,500 megawatts of energy-efficient CHP by 2020. The event included speakers, case studies and roundtable discussions.
Kioti Hires Pettus
Kioti Tractor announced the addition of David Pettus to its product support team. He will be responsible for assisting dealers with telephone technical support and warranty claims, and his territory includes Utah, Colorado, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, South Carolina and Georgia. Pettus has over 20 years of experience in technical support and service and holds five certifications for servicing diesel equipment from Pitt Community College in Greenville, N.C.
Toro Searches for Smoothest Operator

Jacobsen has supplied one of its newest walking greensmowers to mow an extensive area of natural grass lawn on Celebrity Cruise Lines’ latest cruise ship, the Celebrity Solstice. The Turf Care Co., Jacobsen’s distributor in Germany, provided a Jacobsen Eclipse 122F with a drop-in battery pack to mow The Lawn Club’s 2,548 square feet of grass.

Rogers Becomes GSA Schedule Contractor
Rogers Brothers Corp., Albion, Pa., was awarded a contract in the U.S. General Services Administration Schedules program. The GSA is a government agency whose purpose is to develop cost-minimizing policies and buyer’s contracts for all government agencies. Rogers will have three trailer models listed with GSA.
Cub Cadet Continues Support of GreenCare for Troops
Cub Cadet Commercial has signed on again as the sole financial underwriter for administration and coordination of Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops. The program, supported by more than 2,200 green industry professionals, provides free lawn and landscape services to military families whose major provider is serving overseas.
Maruyama Signs Distributors
Maruyama U.S., Inc. announced agreements with three distributors. Tru-Power, Inc., Corona, Calif., will distribute Maruyama products in southern California, Arizona and Nevada. Theo Turgeon Equipment, Inc., Quebec City, Que., will cover Canada’s eastern provinces, including Quebec, Ontario, Newfoundland and the Maritimes, while Tidewater Power Equipment Co., Virginia Beach, Va., will serve the mid-Atlantic states, including Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, the Carolinas and central and eastern Tennessee.
Environmental Turf Wins Five National Marketing Awards
Environmental Turf, Avon Park, Fla., won five national marketing awards at the 20th annual Turf & Ornamental Communicators Association award ceremony and conference. The company won first place and merit awards for writing for an electronic newsletter, first place for writing a feature article, and merit awards for writing for company Web site (original content) and overall newsletter/magazine design.
Turf Teq Receives ASABE Award
The Turf Teq model 1305BC Brush Cutter received an AE 50 Award from the American Society of Agricultural & Biological Engineering. The AE 50 Awards were presented at the ASABE annual international meeting, held in Reno, Nev.
UMass Holds Turf Field Day
The University of Massachusetts held a Turf Research Field Day at the UMass Joseph Troll Turf Research Center in South Deerfield, Mass. The event focused on current research at the center and other locations, including studies on the biology and integrated management of turf-damaging insects and diseases, short and long-term weed management, pesticide rate, fertility, drought management and wear tolerance. The field day also included updates on improvements to the center, National Turfgrass Evaluation Program trials and a trade show.
