Valley Green to Distribute PlanTTech Fertilizers

Valley Green has been appointed as a master distributor for a new research-based fertilizer line called PlanTTech Organic Fertilizers. PlanTTech is a joint venture with fertilizer manufacturer Grigg Brothers. The fertilizers are designed with environmental considerations in mind, do not contain sewage sludge or manure and come in granular and liquid forms.

Dawn Industries Acquires U-Tell System

Dawn Industries, Inc. has acquired U-Tell Sales’ IrriCap system. U-Tell, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, manufactures direct access caps for irrigation drain valves and wire splices. The company was started in 2005 by Travis Wilson.

Foley Promotes Kattak, Hosts Conference

Foley, Inc. promoted George Kattak to vice president and chief financial officer. He joined Foley in 2001 as corporate controller and was promoted to director of finance in 2006.

Foley hosted an educational conference in Somerset, N.J., focused on the New Jersey Energy Master Plan and the application of Combined Heating and Power (CHP). Attendees learned about the plan and its goal of building at least 1,500 megawatts of energy-efficient CHP by 2020. The event included speakers, case studies and roundtable discussions.

Rogers Brothers Corp., Albion, Pa., was awarded a contract in the U.S. General Services Administration Schedules program. The GSA is a government agency whose purpose is to develop cost-minimizing policies and buyer’s contracts for all government agencies. Rogers will have three trailer models listed with GSA.

Cub Cadet Continues Support of GreenCare for Troops

Cub Cadet Commercial has signed on again as the sole financial underwriter for administration and coordination of Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops. The program, supported by more than 2,200 green industry professionals, provides free lawn and landscape services to military families whose major provider is serving overseas.

Environmental Turf Wins Five National Marketing Awards

Environmental Turf, Avon Park, Fla., won five national marketing awards at the 20th annual Turf & Ornamental Communicators Association award ceremony and conference. UMass Holds Turf Field Day

The University of Massachusetts held a Turf Research Field Day at the UMass Joseph Troll Turf Research Center in South Deerfield, Mass. The event focused on current research at the center and other locations, including studies on the biology and integrated management of turf-damaging insects and diseases, short and long-term weed management, pesticide rate, fertility, drought management and wear tolerance. The field day also included updates on improvements to the center, National Turfgrass Evaluation Program trials and a trade show.
